Schroon man scores ace; tournaments scheduled

Taylor Gath aced the 200-yard, par 3 second hole at Schroon Lake Golf Course July 8 with a 5 iron.

It was his first hole-in-one and was witnessed by Rich Barry.

Schroon Men's League

The team of Dave Pachla, Walt Tennyson, Ed Noxon and Paul Mieras leads the Schroon Lake Men's League with 238 points through July 20.

Low gross of 41 was recorded by Greg Shaughnessy.

Low net of 34 was scored by Gene White.

Noxon was closest to the pin at 14 feet 1 1/2 inch.

Carpenter tourney set

The fifth annual Brian T. Carpenter Memorial Golf Tournament will be played Saturday, Aug. 7, at Moriah Country Club in Port Henry.

It will benefit the Brian T. Carpenter Memorial Scholarship.

The two-person scramble has an entry fee of $45 for club members and $60 for non-members. Entry includes a barbecue luncheon, optional skin games and optional raffles. Cart rentals are available.

Silver Bay tourney

Silver Bay YMCA will hold the 10th annual Adirondacks Golf Tournament on Wednesday, Aug. 4, at the Ticonderoga Country Club.

Silver Bay YMCA is currently accepting sponsorship for the event. All proceeds from the tournament support Silver Bay's community outreach and scholarship programs.

The tournament day also includes a buffet lunch, prizes, raffles and a silent auction.

Tucker Tournament

The Schroon Lake Golf Course will host the 27th annual Harry Tucker Memorial Tournament Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 21 and 22.

It's a two-man, best-ball event. Entry fee is $260 a team.

McDonald Tournament

Mountain Lake Services will hold its ninth annual Helen F. McDonald Memorial Golf Classic.

The four person scramble tournament will take place Friday, Aug. 6, at the Westport Country Club.

Registration will begin at 9 a.m. with a 10 a.m. tee time.

This golf classic, sponsored by Mineville Oil, Inc. and Glens Falls National Bank is dedicated to the memory of Ms. Helen F. McDonald, an Essex County social worker who was a founding board member of Mountain Lake Services.
