Folk festival on tap

SCHROON LAKE - The Schroon Lake Arts Council will host its 21st annual Adirondack Folk Festival.

The event will be held Sunday, Aug. 8, noon to 5 p.m. in the town park on the shore of Schroon Lake.

The free festival will feature entertainment on two stages along with arts, crafts and food.

Performers will include the Jamcrackers, featuring Peggy Lynn, Dan Duggan and Dan Berggren, as well as Roy Hurd, Frank Orsini, Chris and Meredith Thompson, Jamie Savage and Dave Ruch, Celia Evans and Bruce Bough.

The mission of the Schroon Lake Arts Council is to cultivate, promote, foster, sponsor and develop the understanding, taste and love of the musical and visual arts in the community.

Besides the Adirondack Folk Festival, the council has scheduled eight weekly programs this summer at the Boathouse Theatre. Located on Schroon lake, the theatre is the home to the arts council.
