SALISBURY - As a result of the tragic deaths on frozen Lake Dunmore last winter, the Salisbury Fire Department has been raising funds for vital ice-rescue equipment; in addition, Salisbury F.D. is stressing needed winter rescue techniques.
Volunteers hosted a breakfast at the Salisbury Elementary School along with a dance and an auction at Middlebury American Legion Post 27.
In addition to providing Salisbury firefighters with free use of the Legion hall, they were given a surprise when Salisbury Fire Chief Gary Smith was presented a check for the amount of $2,500 which is the cost of a new ice rescue sled that they need.
