Two Cystic Fibrosis events in Addison County this month

VERGENNES - Cystic Fibrosis Lifestyle Foundation (CFLF) announced this year's Champ's Challenge for Cystic Fibrosis will be held at Basin Harbor Club in Vergennes, July 11.

The event consists of either a 7-mile-long bike ride or a 40 mile (optional 60 or 80 mile) bike ride. The rides will start at the famous lakeshore club and take participants on a scenic tour of Addison County finishing at the Basin Harbor waterfront dock with a barbeque and reception.

Brian Callanan, director of CFLF, said, "This is an incredibly important event-not only for the foundation, but for the hundreds of individuals living with CF that come to us for grants every year. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and board of directors, we have been able to fund 97 grants totaling $57,000, but there is still an unmet need for additional funding. We hope this event, with support from the community will help bridge that gap."

Funds raised from the ride will go to support CFLF grants, given to individuals with cystic fibrosis aimed at offering them various ways to improve their health and self-confidence through physical activity.

Another cystic fibrosis event, the annual Bristol Stampede Toward the Cure for CF, will be held in Bristol July 23-25.

Basin Harbor is one of the July 11 event's sponsors.
