While celebrating its nearly 200 current matches, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Windham County is making a special effort to recruit new volunteers during January's National Mentoring Month.
National Mentoring Month highlights mentoring and the positive impact it can have on young lives. Spearheaded by the Harvard Mentoring Project, MENTOR, and the Corporation for National and Community Services, this month-long outreach campaign focuses national attention on the need for mentors with endorsements by such notables as General Colin Powell.
At present Big Brothers Big Sisters has 35 local young people on their waiting list for a mentor.
