MINERVA - After three well-attended planning meetings over the past few months, the 2010 Minerva Winter Carnival has taken shape. The carnival, which is scheduled to take place Feb. 12 - 14, will have plenty to offer inside and out.
The following is a snapshot of what to expect at the upcoming Carnival weekend:
• Friday, Feb. 12 - End the week with sledding and light fare at Sporty's Iron Duke Saloon.
• Saturday, Feb. 13 - Get breakfast at Minerva Fire House, and head to Minerva Lake. There, featured activities include ice fishing, snowshoe and x-country ski trips, races, and even golf. Maple Knoll Sugar House will host doughnuts and maple sugar snow. A spaghetti dinner will be provided at the Minerva. End the day broomball and hot chocolate.
• Sunday, Feb. 14 - Breakfast held at Minerva Central School, followed by snow sculptures. MCS activities also include a Jello-eating contest, a wild guessing game, a tricky tray, and a cookie walk. Carnival wrap-up and awards will conclude the day.
• Monday, Feb. 15 - The start of Feb. break for students and back to work for adults.
