NORTH CREEK - Like in a wedding, the Our Town Theatre Group (OTTG) combines the new and the old on Jan. 30 at Tannery Pond Community Center (TPCC) with a performance of "The Event," a one-man show by Bob Paisley.
Paisley is a founder, actor, and director with the Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre in Kansas City, Missouri. He is also an old friend of OTTG - he directed "The Dining Room" in the Fall of 2005 and "Book of Days" in the spring of 2006. His superb acting talent, however, is new to the OTTG stage. In the last few years, Paisley has played parts in the "The Glass Menagerie", "The Rosa Parks Story," General Hospital and many other productions in various venues.
"The Event" was written by John Clancy for a strong, one-man performer. As the Scotsman reviews it, "the lone actor in the spotlight becomes a haunting every-man hero of our times; a man unsure of his own authenticity, haunted by the aging muscular memory of a time when phones had to be dialed and typewriter keys struck with force."
This one-night-only performance of "The Event" will begin at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $10 and should be ordered ahead of time by calling 251-2938 to reserve seats.
After the performance there will be a silent auction to benefit OTTG as well as a wine and cheese reception with the actor. Join OTTG for this special evening to share what audiences from Kansas City to London have enjoyed.
