VERGENNES - SPC Scott Botala, Jr. of Vergennes and Sgt. Durane Scribner of Milton are heading overseas to volunteer their time in the ongoing battle against global terrorism. The men deployed Jan. 6. Both men are affiliated with the Vergennes-based Bravo Battery 1st/101 FA, unit of the Vermont Army National Guard.
Botala and Scribner are first cousins. They will train for approximately 65 days at Ft. Addleberry in Indiana, before being stationed in Kabul, Afghanistan.
