Club's fundraiser assists STOP Domestic Violence

PLATTSBURGH - The Criminal Justice Club of Clinton Community College recently sponsored a fundraiser to help support victims of domestic violence in Clinton County. The club raised $400, which they presented to Susan Kelly, director of STOP Domestic Violence, in a ceremony held recently at the college.

Kelly accepted the check from club president Rosa Ganiszewski, vice president Jackie Soulia and secretary Allison Davis. The fundraiser is held annually during the holiday season. Club advisors are Prof. John Mockry, Associate Prof. Catherine Eloranto, and Assistant Prof. Diana Wardell.

"Each semester, the Criminal Justice Club at CCC makes an effort to raise funds for an off-campus charitable organization that needs our assistance," said Mockry. "The victims of domestic violence are in need of many resources year around, not the least of which is support during the holiday season."

Mockry noted STOP Domestic Violence Program , under Kelly's long-time directorship, provides services and aid to these individuals in a variety of ways.

Mockry further noted the club has made donations of goods and cash to the organization in the past, but this was "by far the largest donation that we were ever able to make to this excellent community service organization."

"My fellow club members worked hard to raise funds and I thank everyone for all the effort put forth to make the event so successful," said Ganiszewski.
