Lake George players gain experience in first two losses of season

South Glens Falls 46,

Lake George 33

QUEENSBURY - Lake George Girls Basketball Team lost an uncharacteristic two straight games in the Queensbury Holiday tournament held last week.

The matchups however, were against schools with far-larger enrollment, and Warrior coaches have routinely stressed that such unbalanced matchups traditionally have given Warrior players valuable experience in fast-paced, aggressive play.

Until this past week's games, Lake George Warriors were undefeated.

In the Dec. 30 consolation game of the Queensbury tourney, South Glens Falls beat the Warriors 46-33.

Despite the loss, Lake George had a balanced scoring effort, led by Junior Caroline Murphy tallying eight points and Junior Brittany Baker contributing seven, Senior Sara Anderson and Junior Kelly Flaherty with 6, Junior Courtney Mastrodomenico with four points and Sophomore Chelsea Sipowicz with two.

In the opening round of the tournament on Dec. 29, Queensbury defeated Lake George 53-31.

In this earlier game, Lake George was led by Junior Brittany Baker's 15 points. Senior Sara Anderson, Junior Kelly Flaherty and Junior Caroline Murphy added four apiece, and Amanda Chambers and Chelsea Sipowicz, both Juniors, scored two each.
