42nd Street Concludes B&W Classic Films

On Friday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. at Cavendish Elementary School in Proctorsville, the Black & White Nights classic film series will end on a high note with 42nd Street, a dance extravaganza starring 1930s heart throbs George Brent and Dick Powell, and dancers Ginger Rogers and Ruby Keeler.

Conceived and directed by Busby Berkeley, it is a Depression era classic designed to transport audiences to a world of glitter, glamour and Broadway romance. Berkeley was known for his highly stylized and choreographed production mumbers involving hundreds of scantily clad chorus girls in tap shoes prancing in patterns across the stage and on huge revolving sets.
