Ticonderoga scouts visit with police

TICONDEROGA - Ticonderoga Cub Scouts from Pack 72 were visited by officers from the Ticonderoga Police Department recently for help meeting an Achievement titled "Law Enforcement is a Big Job."

Sgt. Mike Lavallie and Investigator Dan Lafrance joined the boys for a den meeting to discuss how police investigate and gather evidence and how the boys can help with crime prevention in their homes and community.

The boys also learned where and how to get help in their neighborhood and what the local emergency numbers are. Before the end of the den meeting, the officers assisted the boys with recording their fingerprints.

Understanding the roles of police and fire departments is an important aspect of scouting. The younger Tiger and Wolf Scouts have planned a future field trip to the Ticonderoga Police Station.

Ticonderoga Pack 72 Cub Scouts include Tigers T.J. Bilow, Stephen Johns, Corey Lender, Michael O'Donald, Thomas Woods; Wolves Terrence Benedict, Nicholas Lender, Branden Provoncha, Johnny Reale, Raleigh White; Bears Nate Catanzarita, Michael Fitzgerald, Kenneth Hayes, Nickolas Lafrance, JD St.Andrews, Austin Stacy, Brandon Veneto, John Wright; Webelos I Joseph Johns; and Webelos II Connor Lawrie, Nicholas Fitzgerald, Alex Sharrow, Thomas Forand, Jonathan West and Xann Tyler.
