Ti summer program in jeopardy

TICONDEROGA - The Ticonderoga summer youth recreation program is in jeopardy.

Town officials have scheduled a new registration day after an initial effort to sign up children for the program met with little success.

Pre-registration will be held for the 2010 Ticonderoga summer youth program at the Ticonderoga Youth Center (Armory) on Saturday, March 6, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Applications are available at the school now and have been sent home. Officials ask parents to complete the forms prior to arriving at the pre-registration.

Pre-registration is mandatory for this year's program. March 6 will be the last day to register. If parents cannot attend that day they should drop or mail the forms to the Ticonderoga town clerk's office as soon as possible.

Tony Thompson, Ti town clerk, said the pre-registration will determine the fate of the summer rec program. If enough children do not register, the program will be scrapped.

At the initial registration day, Thompson said, eight children registered.

"Please pre-register," Thompson asked parents. "This summer's availability of the program depends on this pre-registration."
