Moriah topples Ti; Crown Point wins

Moriah used a big second half to beat Ticonderoga, 57-39, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball play Feb. 10.

Leading by three points at the intermission, the Vikings pulled away by out-scoring ti, 29-16, in the second half.

Nick Gilbo scored 13 points and Ralph Schofield 12 for the winners.

Robert Kearns had a big night for the Sentinels, scoring 25 points.

Moriah 66,

Brushton-Moria 65

Moriah came from behind to edge Brushton-Moria, 66-65, in non-league boys basketball play Feb. 8.

Trailing by seven points in the final period, the Vikings closed the game on a 19-11 run to steal the victory.

Nick Gilbo scored 18 points, including a three-point play with less than two minutes remaining to give Moriah the lead.

Nathan Gilbo also scored 16 points for the Vikings. Ralph Schofield added 11.

Crown Point 86,

Lake Placid 30

Crown Point blitzed Lake Placid, 86-30, to close the Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference season Feb. 9.

The Panthers arced to a 27-6 lead and held a 42-11 advantage at half.

John Budwick tallied 27 points, Tony Rodriguez 15 and Will Glebus 14 for the Panthers.

Chazy 53, Schroon 49

Chazy dashed schroon lake's title hoops, 53-49, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball play Feb. 10.

The winner of the game claimed a shared of the Division I title and moved on to a playoff game against Willsboro.

Chazy led most of the game, but Schroon's Jesse Shaughnessy nailed a three-pointer with a minute to play forging a 49-49 deadlock.

Chazy answered with a hoop on its next possession and iced the game with a pair free throws.

Brennan Bush had 16 points for the Wildcats. Shaughnessy added 14 and Anthony Vanderwalker 11 for the locals.

Moriah 57, Seton 36

Moriah routed Seton Catholic, 57-36, in Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball play Feb. 12.

The Vikings took control with an 18-9 run to start the game and secured the victory with a 18-8 to start the second half.

Nate Gilbo and Tom Slattery each had 10 points for Moriah.
