Flood Brook Creates Art for Africa

Art students at Flood Brook Union School in Londonderry spent several days in January preparing artwork to send to young students in Uganda. Olivia Bailey, daughter of art teacher Casey Junker Bailey and a former student at Flood Brook, is traveling to Uganda to work with children at an orphanage sponsored by the Swiss organization Kids of Africa.

Along with art supplies and books, Olivia is hand-carrying portraits, photos, and other artwork created by Flood Brook students especially for Olivia's new students. Excited by the prospect of exchanging artwork with children from Africa, Flood Brook students are learning about Uganda and anxiously waiting to receive artwork and letters in return. It is the school's hope that art can serve as a common language and help to enrich the lives of students in both cultures. To see photos and learn more, go to www.kids-of-africa.com.
