Moriah defeats rival Ticonderoga

Moriah topped Ticonderoga, 54-33, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball play Feb. 3.

Moriah led 29-17 at the intermission and opened the second half with a 14-4 spurt.

Nate Gilbo had 10 points and 11 rebounds to key the Vikings. Nick Gilbo added a team-high 14 points.

Ticonderoga got 15 points from Robert Kearns.

Ticonderoga 59, Schroon 27

Ticonderoga romped past Schroon Lake, 59-27, in non-league boys basketball play Feb. 1.

The Sentinels broke the game open with a 26-3 run to close the first half.

Robert Kearns scored 13 points and Dylan Overbeek 10 for the winners.

Wesley Beers scored 11 points for Schroon Lake.

Schroon 78, Keene 39

Schroon Lake routed Keene, 78-39, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball action Feb. 3.

The Wildcats raced to a 25-6 lead and held a 51-10 edge at the half.

Jesse Shaughnessy scored 21 points to pace Schroon.

Brennan Bush added 17, Lance Paradis 12 and Anthony Vanderwalker 10 for the winners.

Crown Point 76,

Chazy 26

Crown Point routed Chazy, 76-26, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball action Feb. 3.

Leading by eight, the Panthers closed the first half with a 27-3 run that broke the game open.

John Budwick had 26 points and Will Glebus 23 for the locals. Juan Mosquera added 11 points.

Ticonderoga 52, Saranac Lake 49

Ticonderoga edged Saranac Lake, 52-49, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball play Feb. 5.

The Sentinels built a 10-point lead in the third period and held on for the victory.

Robert Kearns scored 18 points and Nick Mars 16 to pace Ti. Dylan Overbeek added 10 markers for the locals.

Peru 71, Moriah 42

Moriah lost to Peru, 71-42, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball play Feb. 5.

Leading 36-23 at the half, Peru opened the third period with a 20-9 run to secure the win.

Nate Gilbo had 13 points for the Vikings.

Crown Point 68, Johnsburg 47

Crown Point dispatched Johnsburg, 68-47, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball action Feb. 5.

John Budwick led the Panthers with 23 points, 12 blocked shots and 10 rebounds.

Juan Mosquera had 21 points and Will Glebus 14 for the winners.
