Fish tourney set in Hague

HAGUE - The Hague Fish & Game Club's 51st annual Northern Lake George Ice Fishing Tournament will be held Feb. 27 and 28.

This year's contest is again co-sponsored by both the Hague and Ticonderoga chambers of commerce with lake services provided by the Hague Sno-Goers.

The prize pool is topped off with first place lake trout of a Strikemaster Magnum Power Ice Auger, first place perch gets a Clam Kenai ice-shelter and first place in both salmon and northern pike each get a Vexilar Cold-Snap Parka and Bib set.

The club will give prizes for second and third places in each of the four categories as well as the daily hourly "blind" prize drawings as well as junior prizes.

Fishermen and women can register at the following bait shops: Fish307, Beach Road Bait Shop, The Outdoorsman, Mike's Bait Shop, Crossroads Store and Norm's Bait and Tackle.

The club will also register contestants at the Hague Visitor Center, Hague Beach, at 6 a.m. both days. The registration fee for both days is $15. Juniors age 16 and younger and seniors age 65 and older are free.

An addition to the tournament will be a "kids and novice" ice fishing clinic on Saturday at Hague beach starting at 8 a.m. The instructor for the clinic will be Shawn Hayes, Strikemaster & Clam Ice Fishing pro. This clinic is open to all ages. Equipment will be provided for the first 50 participants and a hot dog lunch will be held for the class at noon.

Food and drink will be available both days at the clubhouse and the awards ceremony will held on Sunday at 4 p.m.
