News from the Rutland County Humane Society

Nothing feels more welcoming than coming in to a warm house after being out in the cold. Imagine how a stray animal feels when they come into the shelter at the Rutland County Humane Society (RCHS) after being cold, lost and hungry, sometimes for days or weeks.

You can help provide that welcomed warmth by participating in the RCHS Winter Fuel Raffle.

To learn more about how you can help the animals and win a $250 gift certificate for fuel oil donated by Patten Oil or cash prizes, please visit our website at www.rchsvt.org or call RCHS at 483-9171.

Chloe

A 10 month old, spayed female, Rottweiler mix weighing 70 lbs. I am a sweet, affectionate and big puppy who is ready for a loving family.

I got to RCHS on Jan, 13, after someone had adopted me a month ago. They got frustrated by my puppy ways! I was left alone in the house for long periods of time and when they came home to find accidents and things chewed up, guess who got the blame.

Before that I had only been at the shelter a few days after being surrendered by an older couple who were also unprepared for what a puppy needs.

I am a blank slate for you to work with but I am getting a little confused because this is my second time here and I'm only here because people were impulsive and then found they did not have time for me.

Please think about whether you have the time, energy, and extra padding in your bank account to provide me with housetraining, crate training, exercise, chew toys and all the other things a big puppy needs.

Cloud

A 5 year old, spayed female, domestic short hair gray weighing 1l lbs.

I arrived as a stray on December 11 and here I am ready to go to my forever home. With a face like mine who could resist? I am a very sweet lovable girl and am looking for a nice warm lap to snuggle in.

The Rutland County Humane Society is located at 765 Stevens Road in Pittsford and can be reached at 483-6700.

The shelter is open Wednesday through Saturday from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. and is closed Sunday through Tuesday. Learn more about RCHS by visiting www.rchsvt.org.
