Depot Museum honored with donations

NORTH CREEK - Ernest Johnson, who passed away this year, was once a member of the North Creek Depot Museum and well-known Johnsburg citizen. A donation to the museum was recently announced from his estate and in honor of his service to the organization.

"The North Creek Depot Museum is pleased and honored to announce this donation," said Michelle San Antonio, museum director. "We are also honored that Mr. Johnson included the organization in his estate. The money will assist in sustaining the museum's goals"

Johnson's brother, Alan, donated $5,000 to the museum in his late brother's memory. This is the largest donation the museum has received in recent years, according to San Antonio. The museum will place the money in an Adirondack Community Trust account in his name to benefit the long term goals of the museum.

The museum has also recently received a GO Grant for $750 from Museumwise. The grant from the New York State Council on the Arts, and administered by Museumwise, will allow San Antonio to attend a state-wide museum conference in Buffalo in April 2011.

"I'm very pleased that Museumwise (formerly Upstate History Alliance) accepted the grant request so that I can attend a conference that will benefit my position and the organization," she said.
