Stafford SADD Chapter Donates Food

CLARENDON - The Stafford SADD Chapter recently donated a large number of items, to the new Clarendon Food Shelf. The Clarendon Food Shelf is managed by the Clarendon Town Health Officer, Roxanne Phelps, who is also the mother of Stafford Technical Center's SADD Chapter President, Cierra Phelps. The decision to help out the food shelf came about after a cardboard box marked "food shelf" was put outside the door of the Public Safety Services Program Classroom at the College of St. Joseph for recycling, and was found in the same spot the following morning with a number of donated items in it. The SADD members saw this as an indication that they should do their own food drive.

The SADD members' food drive was ended in time for the Clarendon Food Shelf to use the food as part of holiday food baskets that they are making for disadvantaged members of the Clarendon community. Another part of the food donation will be used to stock the food shelf. Stafford SADD members who were involved in the project were: Amber Hannan, Alan Greenier, James Reed, Aaron Bosch, Cierra Phelps, Haley Cotrupi, and Korey Russell, all seniors from Mill River Union High School, Ginger Vaughn, Nicole Bogucki, and Kim Rupe, juniors from Poultney High School, Emily Johnson, a senior from West Rutland HS, Ashley Smith, a senior from Otter Valley Union High School, and Kyle Lenher, a senior from Proctor High School.
