RUTLAND - The Richard E. and Deborah L. Tarrant Foundation has provided a grant that will match any funds donated for the music programs at Mount St. Joseph Academy and Christ the King School before December 31, 2010, up to a total of $20,250.
To date, MSJ and CKS have already raised or received commitments for $12,000 toward this effort. The goal is to raise the full $20,250 by the end of the year so that the music programs will receive a cash infusion of $40,500. MSJ and CKS hope to expand and modernize the music equipment made available to students-- and to offer a strings program that would enrich the lives of their students and the community.
In recent years, the popularity of the music programs at both schools has increased tremendously, as students flock to the music departments to learn instruments ranging from the flute to ukulele to electric guitar. MSJ's summer Rock Band Camp drew both elementary and high school-aged students from numerous area schools.
Those who are interested in contributing to this exciting initiative may contact MSJ at (802) 775-0151 or CKS at (802) 773-0500. They can also donate online by going to http://www.msjvermont.org/alumni/gift/ and indicating "Music Donation" under "Special Requests."
