Maroun talks tough about NCCC contracts, could be headed to court

And he took a shot at the Essex County board in the process.

"I'm a little ashamed of my brethren over in Essex County. They waited until after the election to bring this up and pass it," he said. "I think Tim Burpoe is going to bring it up, but I've talked to most of the legislators and this is not going to pass."

Franklin County District 7 Legislator Tim Burpoe has also expressed concern that the votes may not be there to ratify the contract.

The contract ratification is expected to come before Franklin County legislators in the coming weeks. Because it had been torpedoed by Essex County, the contract didn't see the Franklin County floor in September.

The deal would require only new-hires to contribute 8 percent toward their health insurance premiums.
