Long-time Press Republican editor Bob Grady to retire

PLATTSBURGH - The editor of the Plattsburgh Press Republican will retire at year's end following a career that spanned nearly four decades.

According to a release issued by the newspaper, 65-year-old Bob Grady joined the newspaper as a general-assignment reporter after graduating from Plattsburgh State in 1972.

Over the years, he's served as regional editor, city editor and managing editor before replacing Editor Jim Dynko in 2006.

Grady has been cited for excellence in reporting, writing, editorials and headlines by United Press International, the Associated Press and the New York Association of Newspaper Publishers.

In Wednesday's release, Publisher Bob Parks said a decision on a replacement for Grady awaits a national search, per company policy.

"It has been my honor to know and work with Bob Grady for the past 10 years," Parks said. "I thank him for sharing his time and talent with our community."

Parks said Grady will continue to contribute to the paper after retirement as a member of the newspaper's Editorial Board, with the designation editor emeritus.
