Vermont Holiday Fest on Tap

KILLINGTON - From Thursday, Dec. 9 through Saturday, Dec. 12, The Snowshed Base Lodge will host this season's Killington Vermont Holiday Festival, including The Festival of Trees, which features more than 100 "themed" Christmas trees decorated by local businesses. Other events include horse-drawn sleigh rides, live music and entertainment and a Santa's Workshop - a satellite workshop of the North Pole, allowing children to "help Santa build toys."

The festival kicks off at 4 p.m. on Thursday with admission charge of only $5. Per person, with children under fi ve entering free. Music and entertainment will run from 4:30 to 9 p.m., with any appreciated donations going to the Killington Music Festival. Some of the music includes the chorus' from Shelburne and Bridgewater Elementary Schools, as well as the Rutland Town Band.

The Jack Frost Marketplace is open for Christmas shoppers from the festival opening until 9 p.m., horse-drawn sleigh rides available from 5 to 8 p.m., and free hot chocolate available at the tree festival from 4 to 9 p.m. The Santa Workshop runs every hour from 4 to 8 p.m., with a $10 charge per child including choice of craft.

Along with these same events, Friday, Dec. 10 will also feature a Center Dance Company performance at 6 p.m. and a solo pianist Cody Michaels at 7 p.m., while Saturday will feature another Michaels performance at 2 and 5 p.m. and a Christ The King performance at 3 p.m. For more information about Killington's Vermont Holiday Festival, contact the Killington Chamber of Commerce at 1-800-337-1928.
