This week the NCSCPA would like to inform you of an upcoming fundraising event that promises to be entertaining as well as of benefit to our furry friends. Holiday fun with Steven Kellogg will be held at Whallonsburg Grange Saturday, Dec. 18, at 4 p.m.
Steven Kellogg, a world famous children's book author and illustrator, and Andy Buchanan, a University of Vermont Vermont History Lecturer, will be presenting a reading of two children's books which Steven has illustrated; The Incredible History of Samuel de Champlain's Cat, and The Island of the Skog. These stories will amuse and delight children and adults alike. Steven's most recent children's book, "And I Love You," as well as "The Island of the Skog," will be available for sale. Each book purchased will be personally autographed by Steven.
Fifty percent of the book price will be donated to the shelter. There will also be a silent auction of the drawings that Steven creates during these presentations. There will be cider and cookies available at a donation $5 per adult. Children under 12 enjoy the snacks for free. Come celebrate the holidays and support the cats and dogs at the North Country SPCA!
Our featured pet this week is Theo, a handsome, black and white Domestic Shorthair-mix whose owner was no longer able to care for him due to moving to a residence which did not allow cats. Theo is a very outgoing fellow who loves nothing better than to hang out and socialize with whoever is around. He is a terrific lap cat and prides himself on his lap-warming ability on cold winter nights. Although Theo misses his former home, is looking forward to a new permanent home where he can thrive and show you his zest for life.
