Holiday shopping, celebration this weekend in Bolton Landing

In recent years, visitors and residents have discovered an off-season delight in Bolton Landing - strolling along the downtown sidewalks, gazing at the opulent holiday lights adorning the galleries and boutiques, while enjoying some holiday shopping.

The weekend of Dec. 4 and 5, this experience reaches its peak, as Christmas in Bolton fest is observed. The shopping experience is complete with complimentary refreshments at several of the stores that will not only be featuring a wide variety of gifts, but special discounts for the weekend.

Saturday and Sunday also features a holiday art show in the Bolton Town Hall,where local artists display and show their original works from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. The weekend is capped off with a hometown holiday celebration Sunday afternoon that is annually delight for folks of all ages.

Sunday's annual Christmas Tree Lighting celebration from 2 to 4 p.m. includes hayrides, refreshments and socializing. Christmas caroling begins at about 3:45 p.m., followed by tree lighting ceremonies at 4 p.m. Santa arrives, bearing Christmas gifts for the children attending.

Thanks to the Bolton Landing Business Association and several volunteers, downtown Bolton was ready by last week for the Christmas in Bolton event - all lit up and festooned with holiday decorations.

Bolton Seniors schedule of activities

• Wednesday, Dec. 8, 10 a.m. - Bowling at Sparetime lanes, followed by lunch at Chinatown Restaurant.

• Wednesday, Dec. 8 - Trip to Saratoga Racino. Call Pat Merchant at 644-9359 for a reservation.

• Wednesday Dec. 15, 10:30 a.m. - Movie plus games including Scrabble and cards, followed by soup & sandwich lunch at the Senior Center.

Wednesday, Jan. 5, 10:30 a.m. - Monthly Seniors Club business meeting at Senior Center, followed by lunch at mealsite. Call ahead at 644-2368.

Baptist church launches website

First Baptist Church of Bolton Landing now has a website that offers vital information about the church.

At this point, although the website is under development and its offerings are limited - it includes some inspirational Christmas music and shows the church's holiday decorations. Stay tuned to check out the site expand with additional web pages. See: firstbaptistchurchboltonlandingny.com.
