WARRENSBURG - A recent late-night break-in and attack of a woman in her Warrensburg home - including attempted strangulation while she was in bed- has prompted felony charges of first-degree Burglary and second-degree Strangulation, police said.
Brian T. MacDuff, 31, of Louise Lane, Queensbury, was arrested and arraigned on the charges shortly after the incident. MacDuff faces additional charges of fourth-degree Criminal Mischief and 3rd degree Assault, both Misdemeanors.
Police say that at about 11:30 p.m. on Nov. 27, MacDuff entered the home of a female acquaintance and struck her with his fists while she was asleep. When she attempted to call authorities from her cell phone, MacDuff took the phone and threw it, police said.
MacDuff then strangled the woman, causing injuries to her neck, according to the Warren County Sheriff's office. A male resident of the home interrupted the assault, causing MacDuff to flee the scene, but the suspect was arrested a short time later while still in the area.
The incident was investigated by Warren County Sheriff's Patrol Officers Haley Grace and Scott Phillips, and Investigator Chris Hatin.
