Vt. Democrat Racine want primary recount

Democrat gubernatorial candidate, State Sen. Doug Racine, wants a recount in the state's Aug. 24 primary election.

At a news conference held in his hometown of Richmond, Vt., Aug. 27, Racine said he felt a recount was needed after he learned that Sen. President Pro Tem Peter Shumlin was leading by a mere 197 votes.

Racine noted that the recount would eliminate possible errors in the current close count.

A recount is bad news for Vermont Democrats because it will delay the party's gubernatorial campaign start.

Vermont Republican gubernatorial candidate Lt. Gov. Brian Dubie is already off and running on the campaign trail. He gets a big jump start compared to whomever is finally declared the Democrat winner.

According to one Democrat insider, the recent Democrat "unity" rally held to put on a good face was anything but...

"This race has been about big egos," said the anonymous Democrat observer. "This year, there are several big egos in the Vermont Democrat Party. It's too bad, but that's a fact."
