Zero Tolerance isn't a bad thing

PLATTSBURGH - Zero Tolerance is serious about their music.

"We have spent the sum of around $30,000 providing us with multiple set ups for 100 people to thousands," said lead guitarist and vocalist Tom Parent. "We can handle any venue inside or out."

The Plattsburgh-based band, which has been playing for the past 10 years, has a diverse background. Lead singer Lonny Laccount loves country, while rhythm guitar player Joe Burl likes new popular rock and roll. Bass player Ted Bruer has also played in numerous country and rock bands, while drummer Kevin Bosley, who doubles as a DJ within the group, pushes his fellow band members to learn music requested when he DJs. Parent, himself, said he's been most influenced by classic rock.

"We play very popular recognizable tunes, most you can dance to and all you can sing along," said Parent. "We have a varied set list we have been told that we play something for everybody."

The band's first gig was at the Naked Turtle and they've played across the North Country and Vermont ever since.

"Our biggest fan base is the Plattsburgh area due to playing frequent motorcycle rallies and the Clinton County Fair," said Parent.

Over the years, Zero Tolerance has established "a great relationship" with several bar owners, said Parent. Most notably, the band has been asked to play for the New Year's celebration at Rainbow Wedding and Banquet Hall for several years.

"Having been around for 10 years now we have earned a positive reputation with our community which has been built by making ourselves available for many high profile benefits and fundraisers," said Parent.

(Editor's Note: Zero Tolerance will perform this Sunday, Aug. 22, at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1418 in Champlain for a benefit for Laura Perras. The benefit is from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The band will also play the season closing of the Naked Turtle Saturday, Sept. 4, beginning at 9:30 p.m. Check out the band at www.zerotrocks.com and find them on Facebook, MySpace and YouTube.)
