LAKE GEORGE - A fundraiser for local citizen Jim Behrmann, who is now fighting cancer, drew a large crowd Saturday afternoon at the American Legion Post 3932.
The event included a barbecue dinner, silent auction, live music, raffles, and good socializing.
The proceeds are to help defray Behrmann's ongoing medical expenses. Diagnosed with esophageal cancer about a year ago, Behrmann has a reputation of community service. He's been a local volunteer fireman, emergency squad member as well as serving as a police officer for 20 years.
Organizer Ingrid Swanson of Lake George said she was pleased with the event's popularity and impressed with the attendees' generosity.
"It was a really successful day with a great turnout, and we raised a lot of money," she said.
