Fife & Drum Corps to perform at Fort Ti

Fort Ticonderoga's own Fife & Drum Corps welcomes the Seth Warner Mount Independence Fife & Drum Corps and the 3rd New Jersey Field Music Company on Saturday, August the 7th. The bands will perform individually throughout the day and will have several combined shows with a special concert at the end of the day. An abbreviated performance is scheduled for 7:30 Saturday evening at the Hancock House in Ticonderoga.

The practice of using musicians on the military field for communications goes back centuries. The Fort's corps and the Seth Warner group both play music from the 18th century struggle for nationhood, the American Revolution. The 3rd New Jersey's repertoire is from a later American struggle, the Civil War. While these types of musicians are often seen entertaining at parades and such they are actually keeping alive a vital and proud historic tradition with their accurate recreation. This day is an opportunity to hear America's music at Ticonderoga, America's Fort.

Fort Ticonderoga and The King's Garden are open from 9:30 to 5:00 each day. In addition to world-class exhibits there are tours, demonstrations and family programs in both areas. The Fort is a private-not-for profit site dedicated to preserving and interpreting the important history of the site. Admission to the Fort is $15 for adults, $13.50 for those 60 and over; and $7 for children from 7 through 12. Local residents and children 6 and under are admitted free of charge. Information on everything that is happing at the Fort and The King's Garden is available at FortTiconderoga.org.
