Garden Club Shares Happy Spring Flowers

On April 20, Springfield Garden Club members enjoyed spending time with clients at the Adult Day Care Center on River Street in Springfield. They helped them make "Happy Spring" flower arrangements to take home. Using colored daisies with bright green, pink, yellow, orange and blue hues was a fun way to welcome spring and also celebrate Earth Day.

The SGC over the past years has received numerous awards for their work in Garden Therapy throughout the community for these activities at the Adult Day Care, as well as helping them to maintain a garden on-site, and also making flower arrangements that get delivered with Meals on Wheels.

These programs at the Adult Day Care are done in conjunction with the Springfield Hospital.

Soon the Garden Club will be busy doing the community plantings. All of these projects, as well as student scholarships for local young people studying in the fields of horticulture, forestry, or environmental sciences, are funded by the club's big fundraiser in November - the "Festival of Trees."

New members are always welcome and can contact Barb Lacey at 886-8112 for information.
