Springfield Elks Award Local Students

At Elm Hill School in Springfield, Jim Kirkwood, Drug Awareness chairman at Springfield Elks Lodge #1560 presented this year's poster contest winners.

Madelyne Stagner a fourth grader at Elm Hill was awarded a $50 Savings Bond for her efforts in the Elks' annual poster contest.

The Elks also presented students at Park Street School with Drug Awareness Poster contest awards.

Jim Kirkwood, Drug Awareness chairman, gave out seven awards. The first place winner of a bicycle and helmut, plus a $50 savings bond was fifth grader Remington Morancy. Also, a first place winner was Jonathan Courchesne who was awarded a $50 savings bond. Second place winners of $15 each were Rose Cobb and Shane Hall. Third place winners of $10 each were Madeline Macie, Alex Warner and Ian Treadway.
