NEWCOMB - On Saturday, April 17 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., the Visitor Interpretive Center in Newcomb invites all garden enthusiasts to join Master Gardener Lorraine Miga for a program entitled Planning a Garden & Starting Seeds Indoors.

There will be demonstrations on how to sow seeds indoors in preparation for spring planting and participants will learn how best to plan a garden. Also, learn the importance of frost dates and row covers and learn why crop rotation should be done. Lastly, get tips on thinning and transplanting seedlings, what should be directly planted and much more. Pre-registration is not required and the program is free.

Also, on Saturday, April 17 there will be a family trail walk on the VIC's trails from 10 - 11:30 a.m. By joining VIC staff on this trail walk, families will discover the diversity of a forest habitat. Look for birds, insects, nests, woodland wildflowers, forest floor plants and much more. Pre-registration is not required and this program is also free.
