Annual conference addresses Alzheimer's, related disorders

PLATTSBURGH - The Alzheimer's Disease Assistance Center will host the Conference on Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Thursday, April 29, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The conference will be held in the State University of New York at Plattsburgh's Angell College Center on Rugar Street,

Now in its 16th year, the conference is intended for medical professionals, health care professionals, paraprofessionals, caregivers and students. Topics include early on-set Alzheimer's disease; Alzheimer's Disease 2010: Compassionate Multimodal Evaluation and Treatment of Alzheimer's and Dementia; Aging Veterans Re-living Trauma; and Senior Fitness: An Introduction to Basic Strengthening Exercises.

A panel presentation will also address "Geriatric Mental Health Across the Continuum of Care."

The cost for the conference is $50 for professionals; $40 for three or more from the same organization attending; $40 for caregivers and students. To register, call Kate Chilton, College Auxiliary Services, 564-3054.
