Spring is here, and in recent years, that means Warrensburg Bike Week is approaching.
Held annually to coincide with the week-long Americade touring rally, the Bike Week generally draws a greater proportion of the Harley-and-leather crowd, as well as a variety of motorcycle accessory vendors who are seeking either more space or a lower price than they can obtain as an Americade-endorsed vendor. Warrensburg also offers a more low-key backdrop for riders, in contrast to Lake George Village.
This year's Bike Week, set for June 5 through 12, offers more activities than in the past, as the concept has expanded due to the ever-growing popularity of the event.
The 2010 Bike Week includes fundraisers to benefit North Country Ministry, North Country Wild Care, and Warrensburg Elementary School Playground Fund. Poker runs will be held too, in raising money for charities.
Don Bagwell who has served for as coordinator of Warrensburg Bike Week, reports that interest remains high for the event, which he said is held to boost Warrensburg's tourism, commerce, and the interests of its residents.
