TPCCA to host fundraiser

NORTH CREEK - The Tannery Pond Community Center Association (TPCCA) is responsible for various programs at the TPCC including Teens Only, Arts and Nature and the Widlund Gallery. They are currently seeking funding to continue the successful operation of these programs as well as for opportunities to expand their programs.

On April 18, the TPCCA will sponsor an afternoon of entertainment beginning at 2 p.m. with Nashville recording artist, Steven Smith and his S.L Smith Band, of Brant Lake. Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for students and children five and under are free. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and tickets will be on sale for $5 apiece.

Steven Smith has been writing and performing music since the age of 15. Inspired by legends such as Jerry Garcia, Levon Helm, Harry Chapen, Neil Young, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Jamey Johnson and The Allman Brothers, he enjoys creating music that fits the Americana style.

"I enjoy sharing music with other people," he said.

Aside from performing with S.L. Smith Band, he also creates custom hand crafted acoustic guitars. For more information, visit www.slsmith.info.

Refreshments will be served by the Teens Only group and the Art and Nature program will feature some of their work on display.

"We need to consistently make money in order to keep our programs going," said Karen Smith, TPCCA president.

In addition to their main programs, the TPCCA recently began a grant program to help organization who wish to use the TPCC fund the use costs.

"The community center is such a great space and we want people to be able to use it," said Smith. "We hope the grants make it so that money won't hold them back."
