Riverside Gallery will be holding an open house and artist's reception Friday April 16 from 6:30-8:30 p.m., launching an exhibition of the paintings of Patrick Sullivan.
Light refreshments will be served at the event.
Sullivan has been an art teacher for 30 years, serving for decades as an instructor at Warrensburg High School.
A group of his works focus on personal roots. Sullivan has spent many hours listening to people's life stories, and he discerns their connections to special places, which prompts him to reach back in time and bring those memories back to life. These images of the places in one's heart preserve a sense of history and family, he explained recently.
Sullivan's "Painted Nature" mixed-media works take the viewer in another intriguing direction. These pieces combine the real and the abstract with elements of choice and chance, he said, adding that each endeavor is a unique adventure in color and design.
The gallery is located at the intersection of Elm St. and Richards Ave. (state Rte. 418). Riverside Gallery's regular business hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call the gallery at 623-2026 for details.
