Do we have any other folks in our town who would be willing to volunteer their time in helping out a neighbor if needed? Seldom does anyone ask for a helping hand but we'd like to be able to call and find one who has time. For information call 623-2580 or 623-9305.

The Mommie & Me group will be starting up for the new season Friday Sept. 25, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The preschoolers and moms or guardians will meet at the youth building and this first meeting is focusing on getting acquainted and enjoying some fun games. For details, call 623-5024.

Have you started to fill shoe boxes with small gifts, school supplies, toothpaste and brushes, coloring books, combs, etc. to be sent to operation Christmas Child/Samaritans Purse Program. The children who receive these are the ones who might otherwise be forgotten at Christmastime. All details call Gail 623-2633 or stop by the town hall for brochures.

The Thurman Station farmers market is open on Wednesdays from 3p.m. to 6 p.m. It's held at the train depot.

The senior bus service to Glens Falls for a day of shopping and appointments will run Friday Sept. 25. Those who wish to go, call Laura by Wednesday at 623-9281.

Circle these dates ahead: the flu shots are scheduled for Oct. 1 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and the HEAP program sign-up is scheduled for Nov. 24, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Both will take place at the town hall. Details will be offered in later issues.

The Thurman connection snowmobile club will hold their first meeting of the new season at 7 p.m. Friday Sept. 25 at the former Northwoods Lodge on Bear Pond Rd. For details, call Doug at 623-9234.

Community events abound

The Trolley House tour will be going through Thurman on Saturday, Sept. 19. Participants will board at 12:45 p.m. at the town hall after a chicken and biscuit lunch and be traveling on many local roads. Call 623-2505 for details.
