If you stop by the NCSPCA's website, you may notice that we are currently recommending purchase of the book DOG HIKES IN THE ADIRONDACKS - 20 Trails to Enjoy with Your Best Friend, edited by Annie Stoltie & Elisabeth Ward. This book contains information about some of the best hiking areas in the Adirondack area for you and your dog, as well as vet tips, ideal trips for dogs both young and old, why a basset hound should not hike, where to buy specialty dog biscuits, and a list of shelters in the Adirondack Park that will benefit from sales of this book. Proceeds are automatically donated to the NCSPCA, unless you specifically suggest another shelter as the beneficiary. What a great way to support a worthy cause and get some terrific hiking tips as well!

Our featured pet this week is Bouncing Elk, a Shar-Pei mix whowas rescued from abuse and neglect. She is currently being fostered by a caring family, but she needs a permanent home. She earned her name with her habit of leaping and springing about like a giant elk. This energetic lady is also very good natured and a people-lover. She adores children and is protetective of her family and home. Bouncing Elk would probably do best in a home where she is the only animal unless someone is willing to put the time and energy into helping her adjust to being around other pets. Bouncing elk has immaculate "table manners" and is housebroken.

We have recently received quite a few new cats and dogs who are looking for "forever homes." If you have not stopped by in awhile and are looking for the purrrfect pet, stop by today - you may find yourself falling for one of our face-licking pups or cuddly cats. Today would be a perfect day to come and visit!
