Flu clinics scheduled early this year

INDIAN LAKE - According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), while most influenza outbreaks peak in January, they can occur as early as October. As a result, the CDC suggests starting influenza immunizations in Sept. Hamilton County Public Health Nursing Service has scheduled influenza and pneumonia immunization clinics for Hamilton County residents at the following locations:

Sept. 22 Inlet Town Hall 9:30 - 10:30 am

Sept. 22 Raquette Lake Post Office 11 am - 11 pm

Sept. 23 Blue Mt. Lake Firehouse 10 - 11 am

Sept. 23 Long Lake Town Hall 1 - 3 pm

Sept. 24 Indian Lake Nursing Service 1 - 4 pm

Sept. 25 Piseco Town Hall 9 - 11 am

Sept. 25 Morehouse Post Office 12:30 - 1 pm

Sept. 25 Speculator Sr. Citizens Bldg 1 - 4 pm

Sept. 28 Benson Town Hall 9 - 10 am

Sept. 28 Hope Town Hall 10:30 am - 12 pm

Sept. 28 Wells Ambulance Building 1 - 4 pm

There will be a $20 charge for each flu immunization and a $25 charge for each pneumococcal immunization. Persons with private insurance will need to submit a claim for reimbursement with their insurance carrier. A receipt will be provided. The Nursing Service will bill Medicaid and Medicare claims. Please bring your Medicaid or Medicare card the day of the clinic. Payment should be made by check payable to Hamilton County Public Health Nursing Service with "flu shot" in the memo section.

Appointments are preferred to ensure that there is an adequate amount of vaccine at the clinic, but walk-ins will be accepted at all clinics.
