PLATTSBURGH - The Alice T. Miner Center for Women and Children at CVPH Medical Center has altered its visitor policy in an effort to protect its patients during the 2009-10 flu season.
Visitors to the unit, located on the third floor, are now limited to the mother's husband/partner/coach, maternal grandparents and paternal grandparents. The policy also applies to the medical center's Pediatric Service unit.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, children younger than the age of 6 months and pregnant women are in at high-risk for serious complications related to the seasonal and H1N1 flu.
"This policy change helps us to protect the babies and their mothers," explained CWC director Maria Hayes.
