Outdoor stage eyed for Rouse Park

"We're building what we can afford. Right now our budget is about $20,000," explained Favreau. "We've had some very nice donations from the [American Legion], the fire department, the auxiliary, the Rotary, the Woodmen [of the World]. The civic organizations have really stepped up."

However, the committee realizes it's difficult for the civic groups to always contribute.

"How many times can you ask them to put their hands in their pocket? They always do but it's just hard to keep asking them," she said.

"Obviously, we don't have enough money yet to do exactly what we want to do so we're reaching out to some of the local businesses, and we would also like to ... reach out to the residents of the village if they would like to make a donation," added Favreau.

Any money left over after the stage is constructed will be used for a sound system, lighting system, storage, or concerts. The plan is to have the stage be used for whoever wants to use it, "to give [the residents] something here in the village to come to.

"I think it's going to be wonderful," said Favreau.

For more information or to make a donation, contact Favreau at 297-2064, Merchant at 297-2954, or the village office at 297-5502.
