The Green Mountain Festival Series is thrilled to begin its 25th Season on Saturday, October 24 when we present A Haunted Night at 7:30 p.m. at Green Mountain Union High School in Chester.
Just in time for Halloween, we will welcome two Vermont artists to our stage, storyteller Joe Citro, author and lecturer, has written more than 10 fiction and non-fiction books about New England oddities, including ghosts and local hauntings.
He will join us with spooky stories that the whole family will enjoy. His books include five novels of suspense, four volumes of historical oddities, a collection of regional humor, two travel guides, and a co-edited book of essays.
Since 1992 Citro's commentary series on Vermont Public Radio has featured the state's best-loved ghosts, monsters, madmen and mysteries. A native of Chester, Vermont, he is an expert in Vermont's occult lore, including Spiritualism and his fascination with local tales will be infectious.
Also on stage will be Wonderfun Productions' magicians Scott Morley and Britni Orcutt. Morley and Orcutt will present Houdini: A Tribute to the Master Mystifier, a theatrical re-creation of the incredible magic of Harry Houdini and his wife, Bess.
Reenacting the show that traveled around the world and was hailed by presidents and kings, this 1910's themed show uses period props, costumes and music, taking the audience back in time almost 100 years. Highlights of the show include many of the Houdinis' classic illusions, "Second Sight," "The Straightjacket Escape," and "Metamorphosis."
This season, the Green Mountain Festival Series will be welcoming many artists who grew up in our community and having benefited from the many programs GMFS brought to the stage and into the classroom, have gone on to be successful performers themselves.
We wish to thank the underwriter for this show, NewsBank, Inc. for its longstanding relationship.
