Windham Housing Trust, Inc. (WHT)of Brattleboro, VT has received a $10,000 grant from the TD Charitable Foundation's annual "Housing for Everyone" grant competition. The funding will be used to support affordable housing initiatives in Windham County, Vermont.
Now in its fifth year, the "Housing for Everyone" grant competition offers housing non-profits a chance to win funds for projects that help to stabilize the housing environment in communities where TD Bank does business. Grants ranged from $10,000 to $100,000. WHT was one of 56 winners selected for funding out of nearly 500 applicants.
"With this "Housing for Everyone" award, TD Bank and Windham Housing Trust are joining forces to help local citizens remain in their homes in these difficult times," said Connie Snow, Executive Director at WHT. "This grant support for Windham Housing Trust's HomeSteady program will mean that our organization can provide timely and essential delinquency and credit repair counseling, foreclosure intervention services, and reverse mortgage counseling to local citizens. WHT's mission is to enhance the quality of life of low and moderate income citizens; to preserve and revitalize neighborhoods; to foster diversity; and to improve the social, economic and cultural health of communities of Windham County, Vermont. WHT was a "Housing for Everyone" award winner in 2008 in support of building capacity to develop 36 units of rural housing over three years.
Through the "Housing for Everyone" program, the TD Charitable Foundation donated a total $2 million in 2009, and has invested nearly $5.3 million in affordable housing to date.
