News from the Springfield Family Center

Dan Ray from the Springfield Recycling Center made an informative presentation to Springfield Family Center staff and other building tenants about the expanded list of items that can now be recycled at the Springfield transfer station.

A more comprehensive list of paper items, plastics #1-7 (do not need to be sorted) and several other changes were explained. Updated lists of items that can be recycled are available at the Recycling Center. Reduce, Reuse or Recycle, let's keep waste out of the landfill.

It's time again to sponsor holiday food baskets for the December holiday meal. Over 200 baskets will be distributed to eligible families. A $30 donation will provide the ingredients for a complete turkey dinner. Gifts may be sent to Springfield Family Center, 365 Summer Street, Springfield, VT 05156

The Thanksgiving Community Dinner will be held on Thanksgiving Day at noon at St. Mary's Parish Center on Pleasant Street in Springfield. If you need to have meals home-delivered, please call Diana Gould at the Family Center at 885-3646, ext. 1009.

Donations of desserts are down so we need to supplement those items by baking some things ourselves. If you can donate good used or new baking dishes we would very much appreciate your help.

Because of the increase in noonday meals served, we need more drinking glasses.
