Patriotic contest ceremony set for North Warren

CHESTERTOWN - The annual Patriots' Pen/Voice of Democracy Award Ceremony, a local tradition, has been scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at North North Warren Central School Auditorium. Held in conjunction with V.F.W. #5513, the event includes the presentation of democracy essay awards.

The annual Patriot's Pen essay and Voice of Democracy Audio Essay awards will be presented in the ceremony.

The Patriot's Pen essay contest is open to all sixth, seventh and eighth grade students. This years' theme is: "When is the Right Time to Honor Our Military Heroes?"

Senior High school students were eligible to compete in the Voice of Democracy audio essay with the theme being: "Does America Still Have Heroes?"

The Patriot's Pen and Voice of Democracy contests have become a tradition at North Warren Central School with student involvement increasing each year. "We are proud of our student's involvement with our local VFW Post 5513 and look forward to this wonderful ceremony," Jean Kubaryk of NWCS said.
