Regardless, Hospice is prepared to budget a mortgage payment for the building, which will be a one-story, 3,500-square-foot building when the project is complete. The cost of the project is also expected to be kept down by leaving out any features that aren't a necessity.
"Our goal from the start has been to have a professional look. Not an exorbitant appearance, just a professional-appearing building," said Brooks. "We're just looking for a well-built, functional facility."
The groundbreaking this Monday will be open to the public, noted Brooks. The site is located on Tom Miller Road between the Homestead Restaurant and the Dannemora Federal Credit Union.
The project is expected to take three to six months to complete.
