Ellenburg Depot teens arrested following break-in at NAC

ELLENBURG DEPOT - On Oct. 28, New York State Police in Chazy arrested Joshua R. Snide, 19, and Dustin R. Snide, 18, both of Ellenburg Depot, pursuant to an investigation involving a burglary and criminal mischief to the Northern Adirondack Central School, which occurred sometime between the evening of Oct. 23, and the morning of Oct. 24, when the damage was discovered.

Both were charged with third-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief and arraigned before town of Champlain Town Justice John LaBonte. Joshua Snide was committed to the Clinton County Jail on $5000 cash/$10,000 bond. He was scheduled for a felony hearing in the town of Ellenburg court Nov. 4. Dustin Snide was released on his own recognizance and was scheduled to reappear in the town of Ellenburg court Nov. 5.

The incident involved the two breaking into the school and causing between $12,000 and $15,000 in damage. This includes damage to the maintenance and cafeteria areas and numerous exterior windows at the elementary school and JCEO building.

The Northern Adirondack Central School has had other break-ins recently and the New York State Police are still investigating those and are requesting anyone with information to contact the state police in Chazy at 846-7476.
