Battle of Plattsburgh center will host Stan Ransom presentation Wednesday

PLATTSBURGH - The Battle of Plattsburgh Interpretative Center, 31 Washington Road, will host a discussion by Stan Ransom, the Lake Champlain Minstrel, Wednesday, Nov. 11, beginning at 7 p.m. Ransom will talk about the sources of the music for The War of 1812 and perform some songs from that era.

Ransom has explored Battle of Plattsburgh and War of 1812 songs on his CD, "Battle of Plattsburgh; Music of the War of 1812."

Ransom has been honored with an "Award of Merit for his sustained efforts in preserving the folk music of New York State by the American Association for State and Local History. His recording of "Adirondack Sampler" was given a Certificate of Commendation in 1994 by the American Association for State and Local History.
